International students who wish to pursue a research higher degree at Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship are specifically encouraged to apply for the Australian Government Research Training Programme (AGRTP) Scholarships (International).
International students who apply for the Australian Government Research Training Programme Scholarship (AGRTPS) will automatically be considered for the FIPRS.

Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship
Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship covers the tuition fees for international students as well as a large living allowance of $33,000 annually (2023 rate, tax-free), overseas health insurance, and an establishment payment of up to $1,485 to help with moving expenses and travel.
For a Research Doctorate degree and a Research Masters’s degree, respectively, the scholarship is valid for a maximum of three years and two years, respectively.

Eligibility
- Intend to begin full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time in the year for which the award is to be given;
- Be a citizen of any foreign country other than New Zealand;
- Not hold Australian citizenship, Australian permanent resident status, or New Zealand citizenship. Students who began a higher degree by research the previous year but were unable to apply for a FIPRS in that year due to the timing of their admissions application and subsequent enrollment, or students who started a higher degree by research but terminated that enrolment within six months of beginning, may be taken into consideration;
- Intend to enroll in an area of research concentration. These are the areas where the University has specific expertise
