Scholarship duration

UNIL Master Grants in Switzerland is provided for the minimum required time frame of the student’s chosen curriculum. Except for instances of categorical failure beyond the first year, it amounts to CHF 1,600 each month from 15 September to 15 July (or 10 months per year) for the entire term of the master (one and a half years or two years depending on the chosen masters).

Except for the CHF 80.00 in fees that must be paid each semester, students awarded scholarships are exempt from the fixed registration fees for the courses.

Eligibility

UNIL Master Grants in Switzerland

  • To have earned a foreign university degree before the start of the master’s program at UNIL that is regarded as being comparable to a bachelor’s degree at UNIL.
  • To have achieved academic distinction during your studies, mainly via particularly outstanding performance.
  • To have a language proficiency of at least C1 in either French or English, depending on the language in which your selected master’s program is taught, on the global scale of the European Language Portfolio.
  • Not to have previously registered with UNIL.
  • To have submitted payment for the CHF 200.00 administration fee (see the document titled “List of Documents to Attach to Your Application”).

Application instructions

You don’t need to apply for the master’s degree at the Admission Office (SII) of UNIL because the application for the Master’s Scholarship also serves as an application for ADMISSION to the chosen Master’s program (and thus as a matriculation form at UNIL). Candidates for the Master’s Scholarship must submit their applications online (not via email) and must upload their whole application file in PDF.

To start a master’s degree the following academic year, in the fall semester or the spring semester, if the course allows, the application deadline is 1 November (postmark).
