The University of Padua is a public research university situated in Padua, Italy. It is the fifth-oldest university worldwide and the second-oldest in Italy. A group of professors and students from the University of Bologna who had previously relocated to Vicenza created it in 1222.

University of Padua Departmental Scholarships
International students may qualify for departmental scholarships or awards if they are enrolled in specific academic departments or faculties at the University of Padua. Often, these funds are created with students who are interested in particular fields of study or research in mind.
The following departments offer additional grants to international students:
Department of Environmental, Civil, and Architectural Engineering
- Two master’s degree scholarships in environmental engineering
- Two master’s degree scholarships in mathematical engineering
- Two master’s degrees in water risk engineering and geology
- The value of the award is €8,000.00. The scholarship is awarded for two (2) academic years.
The Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science Department (DBCA)

- There is one scholarship available for the Food Sciences Master of Biotechnology program.

Gates Millennium Scholarship Department of Cultural Heritage: History and Archaeology of Art, Music, and Film, Fully Funded
Cultural heritage sites and artifacts will receive one scholarship for a master’s degree in applied sciences in Cesare Pinton’s honor.
The scholarship is worth seven thousand euros. The scholarship is given out for a single academic year.
Industrial Engineering Department (DII)
- Three master’s degree scholarships in chemical and process engineering
- For master’s degrees in energy engineering, three scholarships are offered.
- For a master’s degree in materials engineering, there are three scholarships available.
- Two master’s degree scholarships in aerospace engineering
- There are two scholarships available for the Master of Electrical Engineering program.
- The value of each scholarship is €6,000.00. The scholarship award lasts for one (1) academic year.
Information Engineering Department (DEI)
- Two scholarships for multimedia and the Internet ICT master’s program
- For master’s studies in computer engineering, there are two scholarships available.
- Two control systems engineering master’s scholarships
- Two master’s degree scholarships in electronic engineering
- For bachelor’s degrees in information engineering, there are two scholarships available.
Criteria
Candidates are eligible to apply for departmental scholarships at the University of Padua Scholarships if they:
- Possess a foreign secondary school diploma (for candidates seeking a bachelor’s degree) or a foreign bachelor’s degree (for applicants seeking a master’s degree); are not Italian citizens (unless they are dual nationals with Italian citizenship); do not currently reside in Italy;
- Fill out an application for one or more of the English-only degree programs indicated above. Keep in mind that you can apply to three distinct degree programs.

Padua Fee Waiver Scholarships
The University of Padua and the Veneto Region offer a number of fee-waiver alternatives. Below is a list of the funding options that international students in Padova most commonly use.
Waiver of the entire tuition fee
Students enrolled in one of the University of Padua’s degree programs taught entirely in English are eligible to receive a 100% tuition fee waiver. Fee waivers are offered for a single academic year and are renewable. Only the first tuition installment will need to be paid; the second and third installments are exempt.
Talented international candidates from all over the world who wish to enroll in one of the University of Padua’s English-language degree programs and have earned their previous degree outside of Italy are welcome to apply.
Partial or Total Fee Waivers for Low-income Students

Padua International Excellence Scholarship
The University of Padua offers 59 scholarships to exceptionally talented prospective students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree that is solely taught in English. There is a rigorous screening process for the scholarship program. Only those applicants with the best academic and educational records will be given scholarships. It will be expected of successful scholars to act as ambassadors and represent the university at various events.
Benefits of the Padua International Excellence Scholarship
With a fee waiver for every academic year, the scholarship has a gross value of €8,000. For benefit students, the only yearly payment needed is an entrance fee equal to the regional tax plus marca da bollo.
The Padua International Excellence Scholarship’s maximum duration is:
For candidates pursuing a master’s degree, two years in a row; for those pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a single cycle, three years in a row.
Application Procedure
- possess a foreign secondary school diploma (for candidates pursuing bachelor’s or single-cycle degrees) or bachelor’s degree (for those pursuing master’s degrees) that is not Italian and that allows entry into the Italian university system; not be an Italian citizen (unless they are dual citizens with Italian citizenship);
- Apply to one or more of the University of Padua’s above-mentioned degree programs, which are taught exclusively in English, if you don’t live in Italy. Please remember that you can apply to programs leading to up to three degrees.
If you fulfill these requirements, you will be immediately considered for the selection process. No additional applications or paperwork are required; the only specific documents required to apply for a particular degree program are those required to apply.
