Lincoln University (New Zealand)

In 1990, Lincoln College in Canterbury, New Zealand, separated from the University of Canterbury to become Lincoln University. Founded in 1878, Lincoln University is the oldest agricultural training institution in the Southern Hemisphere and remains one of the eight public universities in New Zealand. The campus is on 50 hectares (120 acres) of land in Lincoln, Canterbury, 15 km (9 mi) outside of Christchurch.

English for Further Study Award

When a student enrolls in the following academic program, they will be entitled to a price reimbursement if they complete English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for a minimum of 12 weeks. You can sign up for as little as 24 weeks or as long as you want, depending on how well you speak English.

You will learn the skills necessary for a career or higher study through these programs. Make use of them to meet the university’s academic program’s English language entrance requirements. You won’t need to take any more tests, like the TOEFL or IELTS. You will be prepared for successful study at the undergraduate or graduate level by taking the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course.

Lincoln University International Undergraduate Scholarship

To assist internationally qualified students who have not yet enrolled at Lincoln University, the Lincoln University International Undergraduate Scholarship (IUGS) was established. Recipients will receive one of 10 scholarships, each worth NZ$3,000, upon confirmation of enrollment in an undergraduate degree at Lincoln University. The funds will be added to their Lincoln University Tuition Fees account.

Closing Dates

  • Commencement dates for Semester 1 are January 31
  • Semester 2 is June 30
  • Summer School is October 31.

Lincoln University International Pathway Merit Scholarship

Scholarships worth NZ$2,500 are available to new students who want to enroll in the Certificate in University Studies or Diploma in University Studies programs; they must meet academic and English requirements to be eligible. Lincoln University Scholarships is awarded upon confirmed enrollment in one of the following programs: Certificate in University Studies, Diploma in University Studies (three-semester pathway), or Diploma in University Studies (two-semester path).

Lincoln University International School Leavers Scholarship

In 2020, Lincoln University Scholarships established the International School Leavers Scholarship (ISLS) to support internationally qualified students who want to enroll in the first year of a bachelor’s degree program. Up to ten scholarships totaling NZ$10,000 each will be awarded to recipients upon confirmation of enrollment in one of Lincoln University’s undergraduate bachelor programs. These funds will be deposited to the recipients’ Lincoln University Tuition Fees account.

Lincoln University Undergraduate Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship

To encourage and honor the most intellectually gifted international students to continue their education at Lincoln University, the Undergraduate Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship was created in 2018. There are NZ$5,000 scholarships available to new students starting bachelor’s degree programs. Students who want to be considered for a scholarship must meet academic and English requirements.

To be eligible to apply for the Lincoln University Scholarships for International Students, an applicant must

  • Meet the following requirements: Be a first-time overseas student enrolled in Lincoln University’s undergraduate or graduate programs pursuing a bachelor’s degree (Undergraduate Scholarships) or a master’s degree (Postgraduate Scholarships).
  • Be disqualified from receiving any further scholarships.
  • To study in New Zealand, you must adhere to all immigration regulations.
