Each of the £10,000 competitive scholarships can be used to cover the first tuition for a postgraduate taught program starting in September 2025. Applications for the scholarships are open to all new international students who meet the requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for Sheffield University Scholarships

Distance learning courses are not eligible for merit scholarships.
You must be allowed to enroll in a full-length course at the University of Sheffield. For master’s programs split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution, scholarship applications are not accepted.
No Crossways or Erasmus Mundus courses are eligible for merit scholarships.
For tuition fee considerations, you must be self-funded and pay the foreign tuition fee.
You must not be a funded student.
Since March programs are considered postgraduate taught programs for scholarship purposes, none of them are eligible for undergraduate funding.
Only students enrolled in master’s or integrated PhD programs are eligible for merit scholarships during the master’s postgraduate scholarship period.

Selection criteria

Due to the competitive nature of this process, not all applications will be approved. A panel of senior staff members will select the best applications based on the following criteria:
The candidate has offered instances of exceptional and proactive achievements in the areas of education, volunteer activity, and the workplace.
The candidate has shown how these achievements relate to the University of Sheffield course for which they applied and connected them to their future objectives.
The applicant has an outstanding academic record.

Award criteria

You must begin attending the University of Sheffield in the fall of 2025.
The International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship 2025 cannot be awarded in conjunction with any of the following scholarships:
The Social Science Professor David Locker Scholarship
Dental and Oral Health 2025
Scholarship for International Postgraduate Teaching 2025
Scholarship for NCUK Postgraduate Teaching in 2025
2025 MBA Scholarship
AMAZING Scholarships for India, Malaysia, and Egypt in 2025

How to apply for Sheffield University Scholarships

Applications are now being accepted. The deadline for applications is 1 pm (UK time) on Monday, May 12, 2025.

An applicant may be automatically considered for multiple scholarships with a single application provided they match the qualifying standards.

They can only receive one grant visit here, though.
