Fully Funded SBW Berlin Scholarship in Germany – No Application Fee

Young people from all over the world who come from financially struggling families and want to use the skills they learned in Germany to aid long-term, non-profit projects, ideally in their own countries, are eligible for the SBW Berlin Scholarship each year.

Based on the student’s academic credentials, personal aptitude, and societal needs, SBW awards bachelor’s and master’s degrees at universities and special universities of applied sciences in Berlin and Potsdam. In general, funding is accessible for all fields of science and the arts.

After completing their studies, scholarship recipients are expected to return to their home nations to continue working on their projects and to put the information and skills they acquired in Berlin to use.

Benefits of the SBW Berlin Scholarship

For the length of the scholarship, SBW Berlin will pay the recipients’ necessary living expenses. (maximum funding period equals the regular study period). The following things are covered by the scholarship:

Benefits of the SBW Berlin Scholarship

SBW Berlin covers the scholarship recipients’ necessary living expenses for the duration of the scholarship (maximum funding period equals the regular study period). The scholarship includes the following items:

  • cost-of-living allowance
  • tuition fees
  • A travel allowance may also be provided for your trip to Berlin before the start of your studies and your return trip home after you have completed your studies.

Who can apply for SBW Berlin Scholarship?

  • Foreign nationals whose home nations look to need development assistance in particular

Application Requirements

To be eligible for the SBW Berlin Scholarship, candidates must fulfill the criteria listed below:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 30 professional or volunteer expertise in the nonprofit sector strong desire to work for at least 18 months in their nation of origin after graduation
  • Having the ability to demonstrate a relatively low net income and having no first-degree relatives who permanently live in Germany
    Application before the start of their university education or full enrollment in the first, second, or maximum third semester at a state-recognized university (in Germany or abroad), or application for a master’s degree shortly before or after receiving a bachelor’s degree, and the ability to demonstrate that they have not lived in Germany for more than 18 months before the application average grades corresponding to a German grade point average of at least 2.0
    The scholarship recipient is required to return home and work there for at least 18 months after finishing the study program.

You need not be accepted to a university before applying to SBW Berlin. However, if you haven’t already, you should consider submitting your university application soon after.

Language Requirement

Speaking German is not a requirement for applicants. However, they must speak English well. Candidates must satisfy the language requirements of a particular program/university in Berlin or Potsdam to seek a bachelor’s or master’s degree. A formal language certificate is only necessary during the verification procedure. Official language certificates will only be needed for candidates who have been invited to a personal interview or videoconference and have completed the interview. (in English or German).

Application Timeline

Only between the 15th of May and the 30th of June, as well as the 15th of November and the 31st of December, are applications for the SBW Berlin Scholarship accepted.

Documents Required for SBW Berlin Scholarship

Only applications that are filled out will be evaluated. The following documentation is required for the SBW Berlin Scholarship:

  • A request form (fillable PDF or online form)
  • motivational note (one or two pages long)
  • A current curriculum vitae, information on the household income, a copy of the most recent academic transcript with grade point average and grading system, and a copy of the highest academic degree with the same information
  • The only dates for submitting entry materials each year are the 15th of November, the 31st of December, the 15th of May, and the 30th of June.
