CS502 Handouts! The “Fundamentals of Algorithm” is the name of course CS502. The undergraduate-level course carries three theoretical credits. The prerequisite for this course is CS301.
CS502 Course Outline:
This course aims to improve students’ comprehension of the concepts and methods underlying algorithm design and analysis. Programming is not required for this mostly theoretical course, but knowing the idea of a mathematical proof and having a solid foundation of discrete mathematics are. The algorithms and data structures that we will examine and discuss have been chosen because of their significance and ability to serve as examples of key ideas. We will focus on examining how an algorithm’s worst-case execution time changes with input size. We’ll also examine the distinction between computations that are feasible and those that aren’t, presuming that viable computations are ones that can be completed in polynomial time.
